Plain, practical help

What does Ridge & Relay do?

Ridge & Relay solves the home-technology problems that often fall between an internet provider, electrician, alarm company, and ordinary computer-repair shop.

We help with:

  • Weak, slow, or unreliable home Wi-Fi
  • Internet connections to shops, barns, garages, gates, and outbuildings
  • Low-voltage Ethernet and organized home networks
  • Home Assistant setup—a practical way to bring compatible smart devices into one locally controlled system
  • Alerts for leaks, freezing temperatures, power loss, freezers, pumps, and equipment
  • Network cleanup, documentation, and troubleshooting
01

Home Networks

Reliable Wi-Fi and wired connections designed around the way your home and devices actually work.

02

Rural Connectivity

Practical links between houses, shops, barns, gates, garages, greenhouses, and the rest of the property.

03

Local Automation

Useful smart-home systems, monitoring, and alerts that keep control with you—not a pile of subscriptions.

Practical help, clearly explained

Your internet may not be the problem.

Slow rooms, dropped devices, dead zones, unreliable cameras, and poor shop or barn coverage are often caused by network design—not the internet provider itself.

Smart-home frustration has a similar root: too many disconnected apps, cloud dependencies, and devices that were never planned as a system. Ridge & Relay identifies the real problem, explains the options, and builds something documented, repairable, and easy to live with.

Rural connectivity

Internet should not stop at the back door.

Metal buildings, long distances, trees, terrain, outdoor exposure, lightning risk, separate power systems, and weak cellular coverage make rural properties a different job from filling one suburban house with consumer mesh units.

  • House-to-shop and house-to-barn connections
  • Outdoor access points and directional wireless links
  • Preterminated fiber or Ethernet where appropriate
  • Gate, greenhouse, garage, and equipment connectivity
  • Rural internet and secondary-connection planning

Not sure whether the problem is equipment, placement, distance, or the building itself? A Free Signal Check can help identify the likely direction before an on-site visit.

Every property is different. Final coverage and equipment recommendations require an on-site assessment.

Free Ridge & Relay Signal Check

Before you buy another mesh kit, let’s figure out what’s actually wrong.

Weak Wi-Fi, dropped devices, and poor connections to shops, barns, garages, and outbuildings are not always fixed by purchasing another router or mesh unit.

Send Ridge & Relay a few photos and basic details about the property and equipment. We’ll provide a brief preliminary opinion about the likely problem, one or two possible solution paths, whether an on-site assessment makes sense, and any obvious information still needed.

Available for a limited number of Northwest Arkansas properties.

A Signal Check can help sort out whether you likely have:

  • A simple configuration issue
  • Bad or poorly placed equipment
  • A problem requiring new equipment
  • A property-layout issue
  • Something that needs on-site testing

Clear phone photos are fine. Please do not include passwords, labels showing network login details, alarm codes, financial information, or other sensitive information.

The Free Signal Check is a preliminary remote review based only on the information provided. It is not a complete network assessment, guaranteed diagnosis, installation quote, coverage guarantee, cybersecurity audit, or substitute for on-site testing. Intermittent problems, complex properties, and separate-building connections often require an on-site assessment. Submission does not guarantee availability or an immediate reply.

Home Assistant & automation

A smart home should be useful—not needy.

Home Assistant is a locally controlled platform that can bring compatible devices together without forcing you into one brand or unnecessary monthly subscriptions.

One system. Your rules.

  • Alert when a leak sensor detects water
  • Warn when an outbuilding gets too cold
  • Notify when a freezer loses power
  • Coordinate compatible lights and sensors
  • See property conditions on one dashboard
  • Know when a monitored device goes offline

Ridge & Relay prioritizes local control, manual overrides, customer-owned accounts, backups, clear documentation, open standards where practical, and compatibility with what you already own.

Home Technology Assessment

Start with a diagnosis—not a shopping list.

Starting at$149introductory pricing

What the assessment covers: on-site diagnosis, practical options, written recommendations, and a more exact project scope. The assessment does not include installation labor or new equipment.

Not ready to schedule? The Free Signal Check offers brief remote triage, but it cannot replace measurements and testing at the property.

What happens next: equipment and project pricing can vary substantially with property layout, job scope, existing infrastructure, performance goals, and equipment preferences. Any installation, cabling, equipment, or follow-on service is quoted separately before work begins.

$100 is credited toward a qualifying installation booked within 30 days. Larger or unusually complex properties may require a custom assessment quote.

Why Ridge & Relay

No mystery systems.

Ridge & Relay was created to give Northwest Arkansas homeowners and rural-property owners a practical alternative to confusing smart-home products, unreliable consumer networking, and subscription-heavy systems.

The work combines hands-on experience with networking, Home Assistant, servers, sensors, rural properties, workshops, fabrication, and troubleshooting.

  1. Diagnose before selling equipment
  2. Explain the options clearly
  3. Build systems that can be maintained
  4. Document the finished work
  5. Keep control with the customer

Clear boundaries make better projects.

Ridge & Relay focuses on networking, permitted low-voltage data and communications systems, software configuration, smart-device integration, and property monitoring.

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, alarm, security, access-control, life-safety, and other regulated work may require an appropriately licensed contractor. Customers may use their preferred contractor, or Ridge & Relay can recommend and coordinate with a qualified professional when needed. Regulated work is separately scoped and approved.

Property-monitoring tools are not substitutes for certified fire, security, medical, or life-safety systems.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before the first visit.

Do I need to replace my internet provider?+

Not necessarily. Many problems come from coverage, equipment placement, or network design. An assessment separates provider trouble from problems inside the property.

Can you improve Wi-Fi in a shop or barn?+

Often, yes. Metal buildings, distance, trees, terrain, and power arrangements all matter, so the right solution starts with an on-site assessment.

Do you install Home Assistant?+

Yes. Ridge & Relay can set up a new system, clean up an existing one, migrate it to dedicated hardware, integrate compatible devices, and document it.

Can you work with devices I already own?+

Where practical. Existing equipment is evaluated before replacement is recommended, but not every device is compatible or worth keeping.

Do I need a monthly subscription?+

No. Ridge & Relay does not require a monthly subscription for an installed system to keep working. Some third-party services may charge their own fees, and those tradeoffs are explained before setup. Every installation includes a 30-day stabilization period for installation-related issues, along with homeowner guidance at handoff. Afterward, focused remote help starts at $29. Optional ongoing support plans may also be available for customers who want routine maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, or help expanding their system.

What does the $29 remote-help session cover?+

It covers one focused issue on an existing Ridge & Relay–documented system and up to approximately 20 minutes of remote assistance. It is intended for simple questions, minor configuration problems, reconnecting a device, or checking why something stopped responding. Work requiring extended diagnostics, new equipment, cabling, on-site service, new integrations, or repair of damaged equipment is quoted separately. If a larger repair is booked, the $29 may be credited toward that work.

Can you run Ethernet?+

Ridge & Relay plans and installs permitted low-voltage data and communications cabling, including Cat6 runs, wall plates, patch panels, testing, and labeling.

Can you install electrical wiring or outlets?+

No. Electrical and other regulated work is handled by an appropriately licensed contractor. Ridge & Relay can coordinate when a project needs both trades.

Do you install alarm or life-safety systems?+

No. Monitoring here means convenience and property-condition tools—not certified fire, burglar-alarm, medical, access-control, or life-safety systems.

Who owns the administrator accounts and passwords?+

You do. The goal is customer-owned accounts, documented access, and a system another capable person can understand later.

What areas do you serve?+

Northwest Arkansas: Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Huntsville, Madison County, Washington County, Benton County, and surrounding rural communities.

What does an assessment cost?+

Home Technology Assessments start at an introductory $149. Larger or unusually complex properties may need a custom quote.

How are equipment and installation projects priced?+

Every property and system is different. Equipment and installation pricing depends on the job scope, existing infrastructure, distances, building materials, performance goals, and equipment preferences. The assessment identifies the work and recommended options; follow-on work is quoted separately before it begins.

Can you guarantee coverage before visiting?+

No. Building materials, terrain, interference, distance, and existing equipment all affect results. Honest recommendations require seeing the property.
